Old dogs learn new tricks every day!

Audio Note has descended on Vegas once again. This report will show you the gear, the people and the lights and highlights of Vegas, at least from my limited and PG rated view, despite the Adult Entertainment Industry Show being right around the  corner . . .

I've created a photo set on Flickr.com where I'll keep adding pics daily, and where you can see them quite a bit larger than I could show them here. I'll bring select ones here, too, but Flickr is really the place to see them.

Dave - I arrived in Vegas tonight, went straight to the Peppermill for dinner and never saw you guys. Dare I ask: Did you eat somewhere else?  Wink

Donald,

I was in a similar boat myself. At 7 Peter was playing metal at god-killing volume so I retreated to my sleeping room to wait it out. Never heard from anyone after that and ended up eating in the burger joint in the Flamingo. I highly recommend eating anywhere but there, btw.

We'll do a better job of getting things sorted tonight!

Stop by the Flickr link once in a while and see what's been added. I'm trying to add pictures a couple times a day. Might even get outside of Room 4000 and show you a bit of what other folks were up to!

Hi MB,

Yes I did. As you'll see in the flickr pics, they've got the usual assortment of electronics, but some GIGANTIC four way field coil speakers with the upper mid and tweeter horn-loaded. They need to re-think the balance; the highs are quite piercing - the last thing one would expect from ANJ/Kondo.

have, IMHO, always been their weak spot which is too bad since the electronics possess quite a lot of beauty which is lost in the final result when used with their speakers.

Hi DRCope,

I have heard they are starting up with loudspeaker production. However, I see on the picture that they are using Behringer as speaker crossover, so I would say this is a prototype of some kind. In any case I do not like this is a right approach....

They have demo'd with various speakers over the time, none of which have I found to keep up with the rest of their products.

Yes, these were prototypes. I can't imagine Behringer electronics would have any place in the final product - hopefully no active crossover at all. The stridency really took the fun out of listening in their room for me, whatever the state of development and I thought that was too bad.

It is even worse that they are showing unfinished product that sounds bad at CES....but enough of them, how would you describe sound in ANUK "small" room and "big room"?

Dave - Nice job with the pics at T.H.E. Show.  Great commentary as well.  Now that I'm back I seem to have picked up one heck of a cold.  It was great seeing everyone.  Chris, it was nice meeting you.  Don, sorry but somehow we missed each other.  I think you were at the Peppermill the night I decided to skip dinner and catch up on some much needed sleep.
